Aitutaki Careers Expo - Lighting the Way for Future Leaders

On 10 July 2025, Araura College’s Hall buzzed with excitement as students from across the island of Aitutaki gathered for the much-anticipated return of the annual Careers Expo. After a pause last year, this inspiring event recommenced with renewed energy, a highlight being the involvement of Year 5 and 6 students from the islands' Primary schools, including Apii Vaitau, Tekaaroa SDA Primary, and Apii Araura.

The Expo featured 14 booths representing key industries—from health and environment to tourism and infrastructure—offering students a hands-on look at the many career paths available in the Cook Islands.

Opening with a prayer by Tupuna Vaireka and a warm welcome from Principal Jason Kora, the event was proudly sponsored by Cook Islands Tourism. Te’Aumata Rairi, Cook Islands Tourism’s on-island tourism coordinator, officially kicked off the day, encouraging students to be curious and courageous about their futures.

Students rotated through interactive sessions filled with activities and prizes, including standout hands-on experiences like operating diggers and police equipment—making careers feel real and exciting.

Representatives from Rarotonga’s government agencies joined, highlighting the unity of opportunities available here in Aitutaki and also at our nation’s capital.

The day wrapped up with awards from Vodafone Cook Islands, National Environment Services, and Cook Islands Tourism. Principal Kora and MC Tupuna Vaireka gave thanks, closing with a heartfelt Meitaki.

The resumption of the Aitutaki Careers Expo has once again lit a spark for future leaders, inspiring young people to dream big and explore the many paths that await them in our little paradise.
