Pursuit in Paradise, the Aitutaki Marathon, is more than a race. It is a truly unforgettable Cook Islands experience set on one of the most beautiful islands in the Pacific.

Often described as a holiday gently interrupted by a run, Pursuit in Paradise invites runners to combine a tropical escape with a personal challenge.

From 26 to 30 April 2025, international and local participants will gather on Aitutaki to take part in a marathon that is as much about connection and culture as it is about endurance.

Before sunrise on race day, runners line up ready to begin their journey across the island. They are not chasing medals or glory, but the experience itself. For first-time participants, the event is eye-opening and deeply rewarding. For returning runners, it is a welcome homecoming to an island and community that leaves a lasting impression. One of the most memorable aspects of Pursuit in Paradise is the support from the local community.

Along the course, volunteers and spectators cheer runners by name, creating an atmosphere of warmth and encouragement that is uniquely Aitutaki. As runners move through the course, they are surrounded by turquoise lagoons, palm-lined roads, and sweeping ocean views. When the challenge feels toughest, the scenery offers a powerful reminder of why this marathon is unlike any other.

With race options including the 10km, Half Marathon, and Full Marathon, Pursuit in Paradise caters to a wide range of abilities. Whether you are chasing a personal milestone or simply looking for an extraordinary way to experience Aitutaki, this event offers the perfect balance of adventure, achievement, and island hospitality. Set between ocean and sky, Pursuit in Paradise is a celebration of movement, community, and the magic of Aitutaki.
